Babe! It should not be like this! Just because it’s the new year, does not mean we should be adding more pressure on ourselves.
Let me take a step back and explain myself a bit. January 1st, I started to become anxious because I felt like it’s the first of the year and things are not really going my way. Then I told myself, today sets the tone for the rest of the year. But does it really???
I feel like we have been taught that the first week in the new year is basically a reset button and then we find a spark of motivation and we write down all of our goals. My thought is, what about the goals I have been working on from the previous year?
We have put so much pressure on the new year to achieve our goals but honestly, we should looking at January 1st as only a date. Just another day … that might involve a lot of sleeping because of the night before.
In the past, I’ve said that we should say “New Year, Improved You” and the way we do this is to consider to keep working on our current goals, instead of making new ones which will eventually make us overwhelmed.
How can we create a solution? Mapping out your goals!
When you are trying to map out your goals, it’s very important to that you are planning backwards so that you can create a action plan.
Here’s the process:
- Have a clear vision of your objectives.
- Write down how you will be able to achieve this goal.
- Write down three things you MUST DO in order to reach this goal.
- Write your accomplishments down.
If this process is still a little confusing, I have made a FREE Goal Map pdf to help you navigate through this process.
