Keep Cool and Carry On

What if I said that you could loose fat by laying down for 35 minutes? I know, sounds too good to be true but it’s true.

In January,  I had the honor to try Cool Sculpting at Laufer Institute because I was concerned with my belly area because I’m getting older and lazy.

First, let’s talk about what Cool Sculpting is:

The CoolSculpting procedure eliminates stubborn fat safely and effectively, without surgery or downtime. This fat reduction treatment is the only FDA-cleared procedure to use controlled cooling to safely target and eliminate diet- and exercise-resistant fat. CoolSculpting results are proven, noticeable, and lasting, so you’ll look and feel great from every angle.

Freeze away fat? It comes down to science. Fat cells freeze at higher temperatures than surrounding tissues. CoolSculpting technology safely delivers precisely controlled cooling to gently and effectively target the fat cells underneath the skin.

The treated fat cells are crystallized (frozen), and then die. Over time, your body naturally processes the fat and eliminates these dead cells, leaving a more sculpted you.

You read that right! CoolSculpting actually freezes away fat!

But Mandy, why not do lipo?

The key factor came to the down time.  With CoolSculping, depending on your the area of treatment, you can honestly do this during your lunch break.

I decided to get my stomach done because it was the area I was most concerned about.  Laufer Institute did the first half of the cycle of the treatment cycle(second in March) on my stomach area to get the best result.  It took about three hours for the whole procedure but Laufer Institute made the whole process comfortable. The process is completely customizable for each person so when you go in for a free consultation, definitely factor in the time you will need.

Did it hurt?

Not at all.  Before applying the applicator, they placed a cooling pad.  The cooling pad was sticky and cold.  After the initial shock and them placing the applicator, you will feel like a popsicle is placed on the area with a vacuum like feeling sucking up your fat.  It was a nice reminder of why you’re getting it done because in ten minutes, that area becomes numb and your cruising for the next 25 minutes. There is a manual massage after each treatment and that part did feel very uncomfortable.  Just keep telling yourself that you’re going to look hot in a bikini and then before you know it, the massage is over.

How did you feel after?

The number one advice would be, don’t plan to move from house to house after you get the procedure done.  This was just bad timing on myself because I felt extremely uncomfortable during the move.  But the fact that I was still able to move is still awesome because with lipo, I wouldn’t have been able to move at all.

I felt numb for a couple of weeks and it was uncomfortable to the touch.  It wasn’t anything I couldn’t handle but for my up north peeps, it felt like I was playing in the snow for hours and that shock you feel when you go inside, is what I felt for a couple of weeks.  My advice is to just take it easy.  When I was at home, I made it a point to wear loose clothes (because I got my stomach area) but when I was out, I wore tight leggings to add pressure during movement.  I know, a little strange but it seemed to helped.

Depending on what area you are getting and how your body heals, it might be uncomfortable for a bit.  It’s so manageable especially if you’re a mom, boss babe (hold the babe), or anyone who has a life.

The results:

So this procedure isn’t going to be an overnight process.  It does take about three months to see results but after 4 weeks, I have seen a little bit of a difference.  I wore my favorite bodycon dress this weekend and usually I have to wear helpful undies to make me feel comfortable.  Not this time! Like I said before, everyone is going to be different.

Do I need to diet?

The best part of this is that you don’t! Fat cells aren’t actually heavy! The best analogy is to compare fat cells as cotton balls. The cotton balls represent subcutaneous fat (light fluffy above the muscle fat) the fat CoolSculpting can treat rather than visceral fat (under the muscle and is heavy) this is the number on the scale. In order to maintain results you want to continue your normal diet and exercise. If you begin to eat worse after CoolSculpting and put on weight the fat cells that remain in the area can still expand.

You stuff them under your shirt and after having CoolSculpting, the cotton balls leave your body.  You still weigh the same but you look better.  It’s like that with our fat cells.  I was asked to not go on a drastic diet because Laufer Institute want to make sure that my changes are caused by CoopSculpting not diet and exercise.  Remember me saying that I’m lazy…well here’s another reason to get CoolSculpting.

Why choose Laufer Institute?

The staff was so welcoming and understand that you are trying to improve yourself which can be a very uncomfortable feeling.  Laufer Institute made sure that I had enough water through out the process and also took the time to answer all of my questions.  I also learned that Dr. Laufer truly cares about his patients because he will follow up with them even after a year of their procedure.  Plus, I was given chocolate after my treatment.  So score!

I am going to have my second procedure in March and I can’t wait to show you the results.  Already, I’m seeing a difference, especially since I’ve been stress eating because of the conference.

What would be something you would like to improve on? You can talk to Laufer Institution about your areas of concerns by setting up a FREE consultation and calling (727) 400-4768.

I’ll keep sharing about this journey and next time, we’ll dive deep into the results and prices.
